Evening Gathering: Meet 6:00 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room.

THIS WEEK, July 22—July 26

Mission for the Homeless: Thursday, July 25 at 1:00 pm everyone is invited to help make mats for the homeless with the bags that have been collected. We need volunteers to help cut the bags into strips and make yarn. This is very simple to do and it’s a great time for fellowship.


Deacons for July are: Gary Brown, JD Deadmond, Joe Helms

Operation Christmas Child: Saturday, July 27 at 6:00 pm. Shoebox recipient, Dania Yadago will share her special testimony of how a shoebox answered her prayers and how this life changing ministry changed her life. Afterwards we will take time to fellowship together and asking the church to provide finger foods. Please come out and join us for a great time with family and fellowship.

Congregational Meeting: Sunday, July 28 a brief congregational meeting will be held following the morning worship service.

Back 2 School: SMCC will participate in this year’s back to school event on Saturday, August 3. The location will be at the Albert Harris Elementary School in Martinsville. This event will start at 8am. Sign-up sheet will be on main bulletin board if you would like to help.

Ice Cream Social: Wednesday, August 7 at 7:00 pm in the Main Fellowship Hall. Everyone is invited to “Bringing us Back Together” ice cream social.

Glow Ball Golf Tournament: Friday, August 16 SMCC Par 3 Glow Ball Golf Tournament will be held at Beaver Hills. Beginning at 6 pm 9 holes before dark and 9 holes after sunset. Cookout begins at 7:30 pm and guest are encouraged but must play with SMCC member. Sign-up sheet on bulletin board.

Martinsville Speedway Mile: Saturday, August 17 at 9 am. the Martinsville Speedway will host a 1 mile walk/run. The registration for this event is $5. Church Camping Trip: August 23-24, 2019 at Philpott Group Campground. The camping trip will start on Friday night for two nights. It is $30 for a campsite. If you would like to attend see sign—up sheet on bulletin board.

Church Fish Fry: Saturday, August 24 at Philpott Overlook. Everyone is invited to attend the fish fry at 6:00 pm. This will be a great time of fellowship.


Grace Network Donation: Rice (1 lb. bag) For July—Sept

Worship Events: Saturday, August 31 the 3rd annual Faith Fest will be at Wilkes Community College. Various artist including Zach Williams, Natalie Grant, For King and Country,  Iron Bell Music and more will be performing. Cost is $25 a person.

Meadowview Elementary Volunteers: We will be working with Meadowview Elementary School to assist the kindergarten teachers and children on August 15ͭ ͪ        during lunch in the cafeteria. If interested please sign up on board in breezeway or see Ann Hudson.

Annual Beach Trip:  November 4-7 at Myrtle Beach, SC. Cost for double room will be $282 per person. Contact David Smith for more details at 276-956-2511 or 727-710-3070.
NC ZOO Trip: Tuesday, July 30 in Asheboro, NC for High and Middle School youth. Plan to leave the church at 9:45am. See Bobby Paulk for more details.

Worship at Dippers

Worship at Dippers in Ridgeway:

Wednesday, July 19—everything will be cancelled at the church building (youth included) & we will all meet at Dippers at 7:00 pm.

If you want to ride the church van, it will leave from church at 6:40 & return back to church after 8:00.

Come enjoy some fun, fellowship, music and ICE CREAM!

10,000 Reasons

We are all familiar with the song, “10,000 Reasons” and a line in verse 2 goes like this…”10,000 Reasons for my heart to find…” I think this line could have a deeper meaning to each of us…

The American Heart Association recommends we take 10,000 steps each day to get and keep our hearts in shape. Why not begin by setting aside one day and build from there? We kicked it off tonight and next Tuesday, June 27 we will begin meeting weekly at Dick and Willies’s trail at 7 pm to encourage one another as we begin this journey together. We will also have a time of devotion and prayer and who knows we may even break into an evening of worship…
