ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR SUNDAY, Sept 15

Evening Gathering: Meet 6:00 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room.

THIS WEEK, Sept 16-Sept 20

Wednesday Night Meal:  Menu-bbq pork/chicken, salad, sides, dessert at 5:30 – 6:30pm.

Please sign-up on See Connection Card or website.

All Youth Meetings:  Wednesday, 7:00 pm-see youth section for classes.

Adult Mid-Week Gathering: Wednesday, 7:00 pm in the Multi-purpose Room.

Elder Meeting: Sunday, September 15 after the morning gathering.

Deacon Meeting: Monday, September 16 at 6:30 pm

Board Meeting: Monday, September 16 at 7:00 pm

Mission for the Homeless: Thursday, Sept 19 at 1:00 pm everyone is invited to help make mats for the homeless with the bags that have been collected. We need volunteers to help cut the bags into strips and make yarn. This is very simple to do and it’s a great time for fellowship.

Choir Practice: Practice will be Wednesday, September 25 at 7:15 pm and Sunday, September 29 at 6:30 pm.

Silver Stone Seniors: Will meet at 10:30 am at the church on Thursday, Sept 19. The bus will leave after the meeting for lunch at Stuart Family Restaurant. Sign-up sheet will be on bulletin board.

LOOKING AHEAD

Deacons For Sept are:  Arnie Farrar, Jerry Martin, Andrew Hudson.

Grace Network Pumpkin Patch: SMCC has been assigned to work the Pumpkin Patch on Monday, September 30, 11:00 am-4:00 pm. Sign-up sheet is located on church bulletin board.

Oktoberfest: Saturday, October 5 the annual Oktoberfest will be at uptown Martinsville. We need lots of volunteers for this event! There will be 2 hour shifts to sign up for  from 9 am – 4:30 pm. See sign-up sheet on bulletin board.

Worship Events: Saturday, October 19 at Westover Church in Greensboro, NC. Chris Tomlin and Pat Barrett will have a evening of worship. There are 15 tickets and the cost is $34 per person. We will leave SMCC at 4:00 pm and eat dinner in Greensboro. Sign-up sheet on bulletin board.

CHURCH FAMILY UPDATES & NEWS

Grace Network Donation: Rice (1 lb. bag) For July-Sept

Operation Christmas Child: The church has started collecting supplies now (school supplies, toys, games, etc).

SMCC Cookbook: Laury WeHunt is going to create a new SMCC cookbook. Please send your favorite recipes to smcccookbook@gmail.com. All recipes need to be submitted by mid-September and the goal is to have these cookbooks finished before the holiday season begins. All proceeds will go to the benevolence ministry. See Laury for more information.

Trunk or Treat: This is just a reminder of our Trunk or Treat event in October. Please start bringing candy donations for our trunks.

Children Christmas Play: Looking for dancers with Kim Deal for Christmas productions at SMCC. Practices will be Wednesday 5:00 – 5:45 pm. RSVP Kim Deal (276-       340-5946) or Brittaney Brown (276-806-2667) by September 22 if you wish to   participate.

Thank You: The family of Kathy Cooper would like to thank the church family for all of your prayers, cards, messages, food, flowers, visits and all other expressions of     concern and sympathy shown during Kathy’s illness and passing. A special thanks to Tim and Sandy Wood, Amber and Heather. Your love for Kathy will never be forgotten by her family.

Johnson Preview Day: This youth trip is for juniors, seniors and leadership team. The group will leave on Thursday, September 26 and return Friday, September 27.

Family Sunday: Sunday, September 29 the youth from grades K-5 will eat lunch at McDonalds and will go to the movies to see Abominable. Sign-up sheet on youth bulletin board.

Kid’s Ministry Check-In System
Don’t forget that we have a new check-in system for the Kid’s Ministry. Before the service starts today you will need to check-in your child or register if you haven’t already yet done so. To do this you will need to come to the midpoint room on the other end of the church at the Check-in desk. Thank you for y’alls time!

Worship at Dippers

Worship at Dippers in Ridgeway:

Wednesday, July 19—everything will be cancelled at the church building (youth included) & we will all meet at Dippers at 7:00 pm.

If you want to ride the church van, it will leave from church at 6:40 & return back to church after 8:00.

Come enjoy some fun, fellowship, music and ICE CREAM!

10,000 Reasons

We are all familiar with the song, “10,000 Reasons” and a line in verse 2 goes like this…”10,000 Reasons for my heart to find…” I think this line could have a deeper meaning to each of us…

The American Heart Association recommends we take 10,000 steps each day to get and keep our hearts in shape. Why not begin by setting aside one day and build from there? We kicked it off tonight and next Tuesday, June 27 we will begin meeting weekly at Dick and Willies’s trail at 7 pm to encourage one another as we begin this journey together. We will also have a time of devotion and prayer and who knows we may even break into an evening of worship… 

Invite a friend and be a part of this “10,000 Reasons” group.
