LOOKING AHEAD
Homecoming: Sunday, Oct 18 SMCC homecoming will be at Jack Dalton Park. Be there by 11:00 am. If parking lot is full the SMCC van will be there to shuttle you to the park. Several churches will be attending with us to fellowship and worship. Bring a chair! A light lunch will be served and food trucks will also be available! A special guest, JT Clark will be sharing his amazing story of overcoming a tragedy, and how love and forgiveness comes from our Father in heaven. We are also asking for everyone who comes to bring a canned food item to help Grace Network.

Family Fall Festival: Everyone mark your calendars for Saturday, October 24 from 2:00—4:00 pm for this SMCC family event! Children are welcome to come dressed in their costume. There will be games, music, food, beverages and CANDY! We are asking for anyone to please bring candy donations for this event. You can drop your candy donations in the bucket located in the midpoint room.

Ministry Fair: Sunday, November 1, we will have a ministry fair. This is the perfect time for you to get involved in the ministries we have here at SMCC. If you are interested in joining one of our ministries, please fill the connection card attached to the bottom of this bulletin or fill it out online. The booths will be set up around the perimeter of the main auditorium where you can find out more information and ask questions.

Wedding Shower: Jarred Marlowe and Meghan Martin will have a drive thru wedding shower on Saturday, November 7th from 10am-12noon at the church. Lowes & Amazon gift cards or cash would be appreciated.

Grace Network Donation: Canned Beans or peas(15 oz) For Oct—Dec

Operation Christmas Child: We will be collecting again this year for Operation Christmas Child. Pick up a box from the stage and fill your box. The list of supplies for each age group and a shoe box label will be in each box. It is $9 to ship each box. If you would like make a $9 donation you can give online or mail your check in the postage-paid envelope. Please see a staff member to pick up an envelope.

Thank you to all who donated to the Tackfully Teamed Riding Academy in loving memory of Lily Patterson. Through your donations, $860 was raised! Also, thank you to all who came to the pancake breakfast. Nearly $800 was raised by your contributions for the Pregnancy Care Center!

National Night Out: Tuesday, Oct 6th from 4—8 p.m. here at SMCC. Come out and support our fellow police officers, first responders (EMS), and fire fighters! SMCC is excited to show compassion, love and support for our hometown heroes! Anyone available to serve and volunteer please come and help. Lets show our community how to love like Jesus!

Congregational Meeting: A congregational meeting will be held today after the morning gathering. We are asking for the members to stay and cast your vote for the church officers.

SMCC will be participating with the Salvation Army’s Christmas in the Summer program to raise funds to help our local Salvation Army. The Salvation Army is only as good as it’s supporting community! We will have the “Red Kettle” here for the next three weeks and if you would like to help this great organization financially you can donate in that way. If you cannot support the Salvation Army financially there are also various other ways of giving back to our community in such as: Property repair (painting, electrical work, vinyl siding repairs,), landscaping, volunteering for their community feeding program specifically cooks and of course volunteering for bell ringing in the months of November & December.

Attention All Parents: GET READY! It’s time for your children to get connected again! KIDS BLAST starts today for grades K—5. No matter rain or shine Kids Blast will be held! Pam is excited about teaching and equipping your children to believe, learn, and serve together as a family! The guidelines will be followed to protect your children.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR SUNDAY, Aug 9

Mandatory Requirements:

¨ No one with a fever or symptoms of COVID—19, or known exposure to a COVID—19 case in the prior 14 days, is permitted in the building.

¨ Individuals attending must be seated at least six feet apart at all times and must practice physical distancing at all times.

¨ Please no physical contact during this re-opening phase!

***We are not being anti-social. We are taking these precautions for the consideration of your health and safety. We want to protect YOU!

¨ Communion will be placed in the cup holders in your pew ( no one will be passing the trays).

¨ Please throw away your communion cups in the trash before you leave. There are trash bins at the exits of the sanctuary.

¨ You will  be able to place your offering at the main auditorium doors as you exit.

¨ The balcony area is closed.

¨ There will be no Evening Gatherings until further notice.

¨ All children ministry activities will be postponed until further      notice. All children will remain with their parents during our     gatherings.

 

Connection Card: It is imperative that you utilize the SMCC app. Fill out the connection card through the app if you have any prayer requests, change in your information,  and concerns. This is also a record of attendance.

 

Church Nominations: Nomination ballots are available today! Please be in prayer for who you will nominate to fill the positions on the church board for 2020. We will be in need of 2 Elders and 7 Deacons for the upcoming election. Turn in your ballot to any Elder by Sunday, Aug 16.

Wednesday nights meals canceled until further notice.

Mid-Week Gathering: Wednesday, August 12th at 7:00 pm. Meet at the Philpott Overlook.

Mission for the Homeless: This meeting is postponed until further notice. It is encouraged to work on the mats at home. We are still the hands and feet of the Lord. Any mats that can be made during this difficult time will be a blessing to someone in need!

LOOKING AHEAD

SMCC Kayaking: Saturday, August 8 starting at 9:00 am. Come out and join the SMCC team for a good time and fellowship. Meet at the South Martinsville River Access (184 Tensbury Drive, Martinsville) and enjoy a great 5-hour float to the Mitchell Bridge take out (2404 Mitchell Road, Ridgeway). Pack a lunch and plenty to drink. You will need to provide your own kayak/canoe. We will help with the shuttle service.
